Hurricane Katrina

I don't know why there is so much sympathy towards the Americans who ignored government orders to evacuate out of hurricane Katrina's expected path of destruction that created the largest natural disaster area in US history. These people defying government orders should be dealt with harshly for failing to follow national emergency directives to evacuate. Their failure to evacuate has caused probably the most expensive recovery and support operation ever that had to be gathered together as a direct result of citizens failing to follow orders in an emergency situation. Had they evacuated like they were told to do so the human tragedy could have been minimal, no looting, just storm damage… As it stands the human caused lawlessness aftermath may equal or exceed the damage caused by the actual hurricane. Why is it that all those who followed orders to evacuate are now being labeled as privileged and that the remaining poor of whom most are black are treated as victims of their social status, and the government must take care of them once again. Why can't these people simply pull themselves up by their own bootstraps like so many others have done and why is it so common to find blame in others for these peoples failures? Why is it that white America still buys into the guilt trip laid on them for slavery that were committed to people who are basically no longer alive by people who have died a long time ago.
